Traffic diversion starts for South Avenue roundabout project in La Crosse

Published

Traffic is being restricted on South Avenue starting Wednesday, as the Wisconsin DOT kicks off its plans to build three roundabouts between Gundersen and the Ward Avenue crossing.

Construction will begin on the westbound lanes, heading into downtown, so drivers will be restricted to the usual eastbound lanes on South Avenue.  Several buildings at crossings along the avenue have been demolished already to make room for the roundabouts.

The traffic shift happens between West Avenue and Ward Avenue.  Three traffic circles will be constructed on that stretch of Highway 14.
