Five children, two adults injured after SUV rear ends bus in Trempealeau County

Five children on a school bus, and two adults from La Crosse, are reported hurt in a Tuesday morning collision near Osseo, Wis.

The Trempealeau County sheriff’s office said a 2013 Nissan Rogue SUV rear ended a school bus shortly after 7 a.m., as the bus was stopped to make a left turn off Highway 53 in the town of Sumner.

The children had minor injuries, while the two in the other vehicle, identified as driver Ryan Strittmater and passenger Jada Trussoni, were taken to area hospitals by ambulance and helicopter for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office added that there were 14 children and the driver in the bus.

The cause of the accident is unknown, but investigators are looking into impairment and reckless driving by the occupant in the Nissan.
