Days following an announcement that she would enter the transfer portal, La Crosse native Lexi Donarski took to social media on Monday.

The three-year starter at Iowa State, said on Instagram the decision was “extremely difficult.”

Donarski, who started all 95 games she played and averaged 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals this past season, mostly expressed gratitude for her past three season with the Cyclones, who were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

She also didn’t hint at what her decision might be with her two years of eligibility remaining, only saying she can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

At age 14, she committed to ISU — before she was a freshman at Aquinas High School.

This season was the lowest point total and shooting percentages for Donarski. Her 3-point percentage dropped from 37.1 percent sophomore year down to 31.8 this past season.

Donarski, who was Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, was one of four teammates to enter the transfer portal.
