The La Crosse School District can breath a bit of a sigh of relief, after voters passed an operating budget referendum Tuesday.

A year after voting down, by nearly 70 percent, a capital referendum to build a new high school, voters passed the six-year, $60-million operating referendum with 64.52 percent of the vote.

Total votes cast on the question was 18,988 with 12,251 voting for and 6,737 voting against.

Four new school board members were also elected.

School District of La Crosse superintendent, Dr. Aaron Engel, will be on La Crosse Talk PM at 5:06 p.m. on Wednesday.
