As I See It
Is this finally Spring?
Congratulations. We made it. At least I hope so. Spring arrived weeks ago, but Mother Nature wasn’t paying attention to the calendar. We got 12 inches of snow during March, five inches above normal, and our average temperature was three degrees cooler than normal. It hardly went out like a lamb. But maybe we’ve finally turned the corner. Easter Sunday was a beautiful day, and we could hit 80 degrees later this week. It’s about time. I prefer a sustained spring, rather than going straight from winter to summer, but the warm sun sure feels good. Finally, we can drag out our patio furniture again, and soon we’ll be planting flowers and cutting the grass. The winter we just endured was hardly our worst ever. The season just seems to last too long. There are four seasons, but winter is the longest around here. However, we are a hearty stock, used to the long, cold, dark winters. And now there is some evidence that living in colder climates could be good for our health. So apparently, the months we just went through were actually a good thing. But don’t expect a rash of Floridians flocking to the upper Midwest to try to improve their health. I’m not sure they could handle what we just went through.
