As I See It
Do we need more requirements for running for President?
In this country, just about anyone can be President. You just have to have been born in the United States, and a minimum of 35 years old. Maybe it shouldn’t be so easy. Maybe there should be more requirements for being eligible to serve as President. As Joe Biden announces his plans to run for a second term, many, including democrats, are worried about his age. He would be 86 if he completed a second term. Many think that is too old, and worry about a declining mental acuity. It is hard to tell with Biden, because he has been prone to gaffes for nearly his entire political career. But no one questions that everyone becomes more forgetful, and fragile, as they become senior citizens. A president has lots of things to keep track of, and keeps a rigorous schedule. We have a minimum age for running for President, why not a maximum age? And shouldn’t we be assured that whoever is on the ballot be of sound mind, at the very least? Should they take an IQ test and have to share the results? We put potential NFL draft picks under more of a microscope than we do our presidential candidates. Perhaps we put our presidential candidates through a 40-yard dash, at least to make sure they know which direction to run.

Anyone running for any elected office should be required to pass an exam on constitutional fundamentals.

Soon we will have an AI Bot as President to do all the daily administrative things [following the law, the constitution, precedent, and protocol —- is just known from books, notes, and memory. Perfect job for an AI Bot. They compile past recordings in seconds. Rinse and repeat. Congress makes a law. It gets recorded for the AI Bot.
The human President will meet with foreign dignitaries, etc….
Don’t laugh. It’s coming.
