A downtown La Crosse restaurant quickly became a hole in the ground following a fire, on this date a year ago.

The India Curry House was torn down after partially collapsing because of a kitchen fire on April 28th, 2022 that spread throughout the 4th Street building.  The cause of the fire has never officially been determined.

The fire at the India Curry House was reported just after 4 a.m. on April 28th. Second floor apartments were evacuated, and the fire spread throughout the building, leading to much of the front wall of the building collapsing later that morning. The restaurant was demolished before the day was over.

The hole left by the fire was filled in recently, and the empty lot on 4th is awaiting possible future development.
