Mississippi drops below flood stage at La Crosse, after 3rd-highest flooding on record

The Mississippi has now fallen below flood stage in La Crosse.

As of Sunday evening, the river was down to 11.9 feet, compared to the 12-foot flood stage.

Forecasters say it could take until Friday for the water in La Crosse to drop to 11 feet.

The river remains at flood levels south of La Crosse, at communities such as Genoa and Prairie du Chien. La Crosse’s crest occurred on April 27th, at 15.9 feet, exceeded only by the floods of 1965 and 2001.
