Now that summer is approaching, more people are spending time riding bikes and hiking on nature trails in the La Crosse area.

The Outdoor Recreation Alliance (ORA) is busy getting trails into shape for the season.

ORA director Jed Olson said on WIZM’s La Crosse Talk on Wednesday that some improvements are planned for the area near the Bud Hendrickson Trail.

“We’re just gonna do some minor improvements to make the trail a bit more usable, and make the route clearly identified,” Olson said, “and we’re gonna put in a little section of boardwalk so you can get through a section of swampy area…so you don’t have to trespass onto private property.”

Olson added that volunteers are making improvements and maintaining the paths used by bicycles, runners and walkers.
