Jury chosen for Thao murder trial in La Crosse; testimony starts on Tuesday
Testimony in a La Crosse triple homicide case is expected to begin on Tuesday, now that a jury has been chosen for the Nya Thao trial.
Thao is one of two men accused of killing three other people in the summer of 2021 at a quarry near West Salem, allegedly in a dispute over money. Co-defendant Khamthaneth Rattanasack is scheduled as a witness in Thao’s trial.
A jury was chosen Monday to hear the case against Thao, and the trial could last up to two weeks. Thao and Rattanasack were charged a few days after the shootings of Nemo Yang, Peng Lor, and Trevor Maloney. Rattanasack is expected to testify on Wednesday, possibly in exchange for a plea agreement in the case.

Look at the evidence … Look at the testimony’s from the co defendant and the witness… Both lied under oath , you can tell by their body language… Cross examination… Facts.. Sentencing someone who is INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY is a crime in itself. Take away his life under the assumption he pulled the trigger? Makes no sense , why would the co defendant trust anyone else other than himself giving the “paranoia state of mind he was in” ?? All the evidence from this trial points to Black being the one who pulled the trigger. While he was on the stand he even made himself appear more guilty when he couldn’t keep his story straight.
And tell me why the witnesses gets away squeaky clean? She drove the victims there that night. At one point she explains that she saw Black “flash” his gun at the hotel prior to when the shootings took place. If she was so scared, why didn’t she call authorities then when she saw the gun? Why would she continue to go with whatever he said to do? Even jus dialing 911 , phone operators will always send an officer to the location of the call even if you don’t say anything.
I think having another trial would end up being a waste cause the same evidence will be brought up , nothing more nothing less and it’s just not enough to blame it all on Thao especially given the evidence of Thao vs Black.
