Bond is set at $1 million cash for a 31-year-old Minnesota man suspected of shooting several people during a drive-by on 3rd Street in La Crosse early Saturday morning.

While heading in the wrong direction on 3rd Street — which is a one-way — Deandrew Grant allegedly fired shots at a group of people outside Polito’s Pizza and the Press Break bar, before tossing the weapon onto a nearby roof.

Seven people were injured by the gunfire, while an eighth victim was cut by broken glass.

The Rochester man is facing multiple charges of attempted murder.

Prosecutor Jessica Skemp said in court Monday that Grant allegedly got into a fight outside, around bar time, before getting his vehicle and driving the wrong way on 3rd Street, as he shot at the same men he had argued with.

Grant reportedly tossed the gun onto the roof of Dee’s Muffler Shop, a few blocks away from the shooting scene.

Grant is due back in court on Wednesday, when charges are expected to be filed.

Judge Todd Bjerke ordered Grant to have no firearms or other weapons, and to avoid a several-block stretch of 3rd Street, between La Crosse Street and Jackson streets.

This was a mass shooting. The definition of mass shooting is defined by some media as 3 or more and by others as 4 or more people shot and or killed. La Crosse may not want to admit that this was a mass shooting. But it was.
