Downtown La Crosse drive-by shooting suspect charged with 27 criminal counts
A sidewalk fight outside a La Crosse pizza restaurant apparently led to the drive-by shooting at the same spot on 3rd Street last Saturday.
DeAndrew Seneca Grant of La Crosse now faces more than two dozen charges because of the incident. Six of the 27 total counts are for attempted homicide, with other charges including battery and possessing a firearm.
Grant is accused of trying to kill six people outside two restaurants on 3rd Street, Polito’s Pizza and Press Break, after a man attempted to strike him twice.
Videos taken in the area around 2 a.m. June 17 show gunfire aimed at people on the street, from inside a car driving the wrong direction on 3rd Street. Grant reportedly was shooting and driving at the same time.
Seven people in all were hurt by the shots. Two of them reportedly were part of the group of six targeted by Grant, while the others were bystanders.
The complaint includes six counts of attempted murder, five counts of substantial battery, 15 counts of recklessly endangering safety, and one count of felony possession of a firearm.
Grant appeared in court by video on Wednesday from the La Crosse County jail, where he’s being held on a $1 million cash bond. His next court appearance is set for June 28th.
