Dan Shafer joins to talk about Wisconsin politics. Shafer, an independent journalist, is editor, chief and czar of the site The Recombobulation Area — a name, he tells, with a pretty funny backstory.

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

On the show, we dive into the shared revenue plan recently passed and some of the oddities in the bill, that The Recombobulation Arena disected.

We also discuss Republicans cutting childcare funding at 2:30 a.m. from the state budget, the backlash from that and potential repercussions for childcare facilities across the state.

Shafer mentioned sports, so then we had to dive into the state Legislature and governor fighting over who can be responsible for giving $250-$300 million to the Milwaukee Brewers for stadium renovations. It’s there, I threw Shafer an idea for that plan he hadn’t heard before.

Began the show, however, talking a bit about a tour of La Crosse’s wastewater treatment plant, hosted by the superintendent of the facility, Jared Greeno.
