Homicide charge filed against 16-year-old boy in the death of a child at a La Crosse residence
A 16-year-old male arrested this month for a child’s death in La Crosse is being charged in adult court with first-degree intentional homicide.
Under directions from Judge Scott Horne, the defendant is being referred to for now by the initials K.R., pending further rulings. He’s in the county jail with a cash bond set at $250,000.
A criminal complaint says the juvenile victim was found dead on June 14th at a residence on Winneshiek Road in La Crosse. An autopsy determined that the female child had blunt force injuries to the head, neck, and torso. K.R. reportedly had been taking care of younger children, and had said the victim had fallen down. He later told investigators that he had hit the girl in the face, and she fell and hit her head on the ground. Hours later, the victim was found unresponsive in her bed.
The next hearing in the case is set for July 5th.
