Debate over camping in La Crosse parks returns to City Hall for July
A piece of “unfinished business” concerning camping in La Crosse parks, mainly by homeless people, comes back before city council members this month.
On Wednesday night, the council judiciary committee will discuss an amended ordinance, aimed at restricting camping on city property. The proposed amendment would strike some language referring to posting signs that say “no camping.”
The regulations against overnight camping were delayed for a month by the city council at its June meeting. The city webpage lists a few dozen persons requesting to speak at the committee meeting, either for or against the camping ordinance.
Council members decided to put off action, so they would have time to discuss the issue with city residents. The judiciary committee meeting starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. That meeting usually happens on a Tuesday, but it was rescheduled because of the 4th of July. The committee is likely to make a recommendation for the full council to debate at its next meeting on July 13th.

What is so hard ban all camping in park! We thought the homeless were stupid it the city government that stupid! They must be spending too much time with Mitch.

City and county parks should not be used for camping. I camp in a county park. I pay $2225.05 to stay
In my camper from Apr 15 to Oct 15. I am assuming we campers also pay for the homeless??! With tax

This is not yours or the cities problem. Kick them out, send them away. Stop enabling them
