Compan charged with 7 crimes, related to theft and sinking of minivan in La Crosse County

The teenager accused of stealing a minivan and sinking it in the Mississippi now faces seven criminal charges.

Eighteen-year-old Kavi Compan is suspected of burglary, theft of a van, and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent. His bond remains at $10,000 cash after his second court appearance in as many days.

Compan is accused of breaking into a woman’s residence, and taking her van and her cat. Police say Compan sent the video to the victim, showing the van in the water, and also sent her a picture of her cat. Compan suggests that the cat ran away.

Compan’s mother says her son was not responsible for putting the car in the water, but she claims to know who did. The next hearing in the case is on July 26th.
