As I See It
Third party? How about a fourth and fifth?
It has been said many times. Why do we get so few choices in our presidential candidates? We are typically offered two choices, and often they are the same two choices. It seems we are headed there again with Joe Biden and Donald Trump as the likely nominees of their respective parties. Voters may have another choice in the next election. A group called No Labels is working to get on the ballot in Wisconsin and other states in time for the 2024 election. No Labels works to promote what is a lost trait in today’s politics, centrism and bipartisanship. This party is not aligned with either Republicans or Democrats, and possible candidates include Democratic U.S. Senator Joe Manchin and former Republican governors Jon Huntsman and Larry Hogan. Of course the two established parties aren’t fans of No Labels, arguing that it could take votes away from their candidate, and could benefit Trump more than Biden. That should not be a reason to not support the group. A third party would force the Republican and Democrat candidates to refine their message and work harder to earn our vote. We deserve more choices when it comes to selecting our President, especially when the matchup is the names on the ballot are the same four years later.
