A La Crosse man has been accused of breaking into an apartment twice in as many days.

Winters

Chauncey Winters is being held without bond in the county jail on charges of burglary and violating probation.

Police said the two break ins occurred at an apartment on 16th Street South in La Crosse. The first happened early July 3 and the second on July 4.

A camera system detected movement during the first entry and it, apparently, was stolen the second time.

Drawers had been opened and items were scattered around the apartment.

Photos taken on a phone in the apartment led to the arrest of Winters.

A criminal complaint said the resident of the apartment was in jail at the time of the burglaries.
