Federal funds could be used in La Crosse County to provide grants for child care
Another local government is considering new uses for the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) federal funding that came to the La Crosse area during the COVID outbreak.
This week, a La Crosse County committee will discuss a plan to spend $500,000 in ARPA funding to continue the Child Care Counts program, because the state budget has ended funding for the program.
Earlier this year, the La Crosse County Board expressed support for a project that provides child care grants.
The county received almost $23 million in ARPA money that must be allocated by 2024 and spent by 2026.
Also, the La Crosse city council could vote Thursday on spending ARPA funding to continue a program that sends outreach workers into the community to assist the homeless.

A week, we had to find and pay for it, out of our wages, now lets take the responsibility from the parents..!and give every thing to the younger generation. WHAT happened to common sense, responsibility, paying your way. Don’t have kids if you can’t afford them. Don’t go to college if you can’t afford it. We don’t need to be playing everyone’s bills.
