Shelly Fortner on Hunger Task Force food bank’s biggest fundraiser, Taste of the Garden
Shelly Fortner joins to preview the Taste of the Garden fundraiser. This is one of the Hunger Task Force (HTF) food bank’s two biggest fundraisers of the year.
La Crosse Talk airs weekdays 6-9 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.
The HTF is the only food bank between Madison and Rochester, distributing goods to 120 meal sites, food pantries, youth and backpack programs in the region.
Taste of the Garden happens from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Kane Street Community Garden (google map).
Fortner, the HTF executive director, highlights the event, which includes food and beverages from local vendors. She also talks about how badly HTF needs donations right now — and volunteers.
The Wednesday event is for those 21 and older. It will, of course, feature food that is garden-inspired. Cost is $30 in advance, $35 at the gate.
