76-year-old flips car in construction zone in Vernon County

A 76-year-old man’s classic car was airborne then rolled, after he lost control in a construction zone Saturday on Highway 27 in Vernon County.

The incident happened around 12:20 p.m., when the Liberty Pole, Wis., man lost control due to the uneven side of the road, just south of County J near the town of Franklin.

According to the the sheriff’s office description, he hit a driveway, and “went airborne through the ditch, hit a fence, overturned and came to a rest upright.”

The man was not wearing his seatbelt.

He was initially taken by ambulance to Vernon Memorial Healthcare but later transferred to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, according to Vernon Sheriff Roy Torgerson.
