One dead in a motorcycle crash Saturday morning in Trempealeau County.

The Sheriff’s Office there said it received a 911 call around 11 a.m. that a car had crashed into a group of motorcycles at the intersection of State Road 93 and County Road E, near the Town of Hale.

The report stated the motorcycles were headed north on 93, as the car — headed west on E — ran a stop sign at that intersection and collided with two motorcycles.

Those riders were thrown from their motorcycles. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other and its passenger had non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, who ran the stop sign, was unharmed.

The Sheriff’s Department released no names or other details involving the incident.

This would be the second road fatality in Trempealeau County this year. There were none in 2022, while four were killed in 2021 and six the year before, according to Wisconsin DOT numbers, updated Aug. 13.

We have too many drivers blatantly running red lights and stop signs.
We need to get real serious about the consequences.
    Increase the penalties dramatically.
This is another tragedy resulting in loss of life that did not have to happen.
