Wisconsin Rep. Steve Doyle prepares to serve on statewide A.I. task force
The concern about Artificial Intelligence in the workplace has led Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers to name a task force to study that scientific advance.
State Rep. Steve Doyle of Onalaska will serve on the A.I. task force. Doyle wants to look for ways to avoid abuse of the computer technology and find uses that could benefit law enforcement.
“Okay, here is a Toyota Prius that has a dent in the fender,” Doyle said, giving an example. “The license plates happen to have been swapped out, because this is a criminal trying to flee, but it will pick that up by looking at cameras throughout the country. It can pick up that vehicle moving from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.”
The A.I. study group also includes representatives of organized labor, the technology sector, and experts from technical colleges and the UW System.
Doyle, a Democrat, said having both political parties represented is a good step.
He said A.I. tech is here to stay but sees a goal of making it a positive force, so the systems don’t replace people who have jobs.
