18-year-old hits utility pole, then fence — “excessive speed” a factor in Viroqua crash
A 18-year-old, driving a Chevy pickup lost control from excessive speed, went through the culvert, hit a utility pole, then a fence.
The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. Monday on Cherry Grove Road, in the town of Viroqua, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and his air bag did go off. He sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention.
The truck had heavy damage — losing a front wheel — and “excessive speed is believed to be the contributing factor,” the Sheriff’s report said.
The report does not state if the driver was ticketed.
