Applications being taken to fill La Crosse County board seat for District 5
A resignation on the La Crosse County board has created a vacancy.
Grant Mathu, of District 5 — which is the area around UW-La Crosse — has resigned from the board.
The next steps will be for applications to fill the seat to be taken, before interviews by the board will be conducted and finally a recommendation to fill the open seat.
Qualified applicants need to be 18 and currently, or plan to become, a resident of the 5th District, prior to being sworn in. Those applicants should submit a letter of interest to the County Clerk’s office:
212 6th Street N, Room 1500, La Crosse, WI 54601
Or email [email protected] by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15.
Interviews with qualified applicants will be held the week of Sept. 25.
County Board Chair Monica Kruse’s appointment recommendation will be presented to the full County Board for approval at the Policy Planning meeting Oct. 9, 2023.
It is anticipated the newly appointed District 5 board member would be sworn in and
take office at that same meeting.
No reason was noted in the news release by the county over Mathu’s resignation.
Mathu was on the following committees: Veteran’s Aging and Long Term Care Committee, Economic Development Fund Board
