Driver who smashed camper into La Crescent train bridge identified, will be charged

The driver of a Dodge Ram pulling a camper that smashed into the Shore Acres Road train bridge in La Crescent, and left the scene, has been identified and could soon be charged, police said.

The La Crescent Police Department asked for the public’s help in finding the owner of the camper, that was left jammed into the bridge, debris strewn across the road around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the driver will be charged with leaving the scene and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Police added those who left tips, and the help of a local business, identified the driver.
