Hit-and-run suspect in Trempealeau County also could face weapon charge

A driver in Trempealeau County was been arrested, after two reported accidents outside a bar in Independence on Saturday.

The sheriff’s department received reports of a hit and run crash outside the Welcome Bar early in the morning. Later, the same vehicle apparently returned to the scene and hit a pedestrian in the road, and then took off again.

People calling the sheriff’s department said the car came back a third time, with the male driver allegedly carrying a firearm. Deputies arrested the man, but they did not find a firearm.

Two people had to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
