Delay is requested in Copper Rocks construction at old Kmart in La Crosse

A new development planned at the old Kmart site on State Road in La Crosse could be postponed for a few more months.

Monday, the city plan commission is expected to review a request to delay construction on the Copper Rocks project.

The old K-Mart along Losey Boulevard has been empty since 2017

In January of last year, Three-Sixty Real Estate Solutions unveiled plans for housing and retail development on the lot at State Road and Losey, where Kmart opened in the 1960s.

Back in August, Three-Sixty told WIZM increases in construction costs and a slowdown in rentals have led to the delay.

The company originally had hoped to have most of the construction done during 2022.

The company would like an 18-month extension on the project, in the hope that costs will go down and an interest in renting will go up.

Seriously? They’re waiting for costs to go DOWN? Get real. La Crosse should give up on Three Sixty for this project and look for someone that has a more realistic idea.

I’m with you. Costs of building products will never go down; what a joke. The city should offer this land to someone willing to build now. But they won’t.

Costs going down with bidenomics is like betting on a dead horse to win a horse race…stolden elections have very bad consequences even for the non elitist democrats.

The only people who tried to “stold” the election was Trump and his nutjob accomplices (aka codefendents and convicted criminals) by coercing election officials, attacking the Capitol building, trying to introduce fake electors etc.

In contrast, many audits and failed legal challenges with no actual evidence have shown there was no widespread election fraud. Biden won solely because more people voted for him than voted for Trump. Period.

That U-Haul business that wanted the site with the city taxes it would have paid is looking better all the time. The one in Winona right along the highway looks fine and it’s right near snooty St. Mary’s College and the Knopp Valley posh homes.

Yep city should put the homeless there. Great idea. It is Right on bus line.
Any of the homeless want to destroy stuff arrest them. Thats why they got kicked out of the motels.
Take care of the problem makers amoung the homeless put them in drug rehab or alchol rehab or jail. Then the homeless really wanting help can get it.

If you were business savvy you would know that to go ahead with a project that isn’t going to be financially successful is pure stupidity. Maybe if president trump is re-elected to the presidency like he rightfully should have been then maybe the economy will turn around and grow again like it did when he was in office.
