Court hearing could decide if drive-by shooting suspect is competent for trial in La Crosse
A court hearing on Monday could determine whether the suspect in a recent drive-by shooting in La Crosse is competent to go on trial.
Deandrew Grant faces 29 felony counts for allegedly firing at a group of people near Polito’s Pizza and the Press Break restaurant one night last June, while driving the wrong direction on 3rd Street. The hearing is scheduled before Judge Elliott Levine.
Grant is charged with six counts of attempted murder, and seven people in all were wounded by gunshots in the June 17th incident. In September, a county judge ordered a competency exam for Grant, and court records show the exam has been completed.
Grant allegedly drove north, on southbound 3rd Street, past the block where he was involved in a fight outside a restaurant, and fired at people while he was driving. The shooting occurred the same weekend that the Wisconsin Republican Party had its state convention in downtown La Crosse.

The guy that shot several innocent people is NOT incompetent or insane to stand trial. He’s a low IQ individual, possibly a drug addict and definitely evil. There’s a huge difference. He should stand trial but with liberal judges in La Crosse, he’ll probably get a light sentence or end up in Mendora for a year.
