Gas prices below $3 in some parts of Wisconsin; $3.17 lowest in La Crosse County

The La Crosse area had some of the lowest gas prices in western Wisconsin this weekend.

La Crosse County’s average price for gas on Sunday was $3.25 a gallon, according to the Gas Buddy website. Many stations in the county were selling regular for as low as $3.17. In Jackson County, the average price was down to $3.12 per gallon. Prices were higher in several counties south of La Crosse.

Gas prices have dropped well below 3 dollars a gallon in some parts of Wisconsin, especially near Milwaukee. The lowest price in the state on Gas Buddy on Sunday afternoon was $2.80, at stations in Pewaukee and Waukesha.

Gas Buddy says the state average in Wisconsin is $3.23, which is 25 cents below the Minnesota average.

Lower seasonal demand for gasoline and a switch to winter blends are cited by experts as reasons for the falling pump prices.
