Two men charged in separate La Crosse County incidents both appeared in court Tuesday, and both would need to post $500,000 bonds to get out of jail.

Cole

Freeman Cole returned to La Crosse, after being captured in Florida last month on an arrest warrant.

Cole faces charges of attempted murder, strangulation and false imprisonment for an alleged Oct. 3 attack on a woman at a south La Crosse storage unit.

Police said Cole took the victim into a storage shed on Fiesta Court and began beating her. A passersby heard screaming coming from one of the units and discovered Cole and the victim inside.

Cole ran and eventually arrested in Osceola County, Fla., on Oct. 29.

Anderson

La Crosse County Judge Scott Horne set another court hearing for Cole next week.

Also remaining in La Crosse jail on $500,000 bond is Cody Anderson, who’s accused of crashing through a gate at the La Crosse Regional Airport and getting aboard a private plane.

Horne authorized a competency exam for Anderson, following a request from a defense attorney.

Police said Anderson drove through the closed airport gate on Nov. 11, got aboard a private airplane and threatened those inside.

The judge set a hearing for Dec. 18 to review findings from Anderson’s examination.
