La Crosse Mayor Reynolds on Dubai UN climate trip, tearing down Macy’s, city housing decisions
Mayor Mitch Reynolds joins La Crosse Talk PM on Monday to discuss his trip to Dubai for the U.N. climate summit, tearing down the old Macy’s at the mall, as well as city council decisions on “ADUs” and short-term rentals.

Began the show, as we usually do, talking a bit about the Packers, before getting into Reynolds’ recent trip to COP28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, where he was one of 30 mayors from the US to be invited. Reynolds was representing the Mississippi Rivers, Cities and Towns Initiative, in which he’s the co-chair, and discussed ways that water needs to be protected — including from plastic pollution.
After that, we talked about some city legislation, coming out of “committee week” and heading into Thursday’s monthly council meeting. That discussion included some potential deregulation for what’s called “Accessory Dwelling Units” (ADUs), where residential properties could make unattached buildings living spaces. We also hit on the dueling legislation dealing with short-term rentals in the city.
And, we wrapped up discussing the city’s role using a business group’s plan to tear down the old Macy’s at the Valley View Mall to add 100 parking spaces, fast food joints and a car wash.

What a joke Reynolds flying on a plane to Dubai just to sit and do nothing. I can’t believe no one sees this hypocrisy. Why don’t they do it on zoom. If they really cared, they would really care. Don’t be fooled. Stop being led by morons. Actions speak louder than words.

There must be a video of this farce somewhere. It should be posted for taxpayers to see what they are paying for.
Hopefully the mayor didn’t commit to sending taxpayer $ to some third world “sister city” to help them feel better about western capitalism. It seems every country in attendance had their hands out to reel in the grift.

The event was held in an oil producing country. The next also will be hosted by an oil producing country.
The irony is rich especially when some 78,000 attendees flew there and probably came in limos. Al Gore made a fortune flying all over the place in private jets and using limos to go and talk about climate change- FRAUD.
As for plastic bottles, people need to hold onto them and recycle rather than use the rivers as a dumping ground.
Personal responsibility for most is non-existent.
