Grant is declared competent for trial in downtown La Crosse drive-by shooting
The case of a drive-by shooting last summer in downtown La Crosse which injured several people will move ahead toward a trial.
A recent exam has determined that Deandrew Grant is competent to be tried for attempted murder and other charges. Judge Ramona Gonzalez has set an evidence hearing for next week, on December 21st.
Police say six people on 3rd Street were wounded early on June 17th, when Grant reportedly drove up the street and fired a gun toward a pizza restaurant where he had gotten into a dispute.
During a brief court appearance on Wednesday, a defense attorney for Grant did not object to a finding that the suspect is mentally fit to be tried on 29 counts, including multiple counts of attempted homicide.
