The suspect in a downtown La Crosse drive-by shooting last June will be scheduled for a trial.

Deandrew Grant appeared before Judge Ramona Gonzalez on Thursday and entered pleas of not guilty on 29 criminal counts, including multiple charges of attempted murder.

His next court hearing is on Feb 8.

Grant is accused of shooting and wounding several people while driving the wrong direction down 3rd Street last summer.

The shooting at Polito’s Pizza occurred a short time after Grant was involved in a dispute at the restaurant.

During his Thursday hearing, Grant was asked by the judge whether he had read the criminal complaint in his case. He responded that he can’t read, so his attorney is helping him learn what’s in the complaint.
