Hicke, second suspect return to La Crosse court on drug conspiracy charges

A 19-year-old Tomah man, sentenced to prison already earlier this month for his role in the fatal shooting of a La Crosse teen, has now made an initial appearance on a drug charge in La Crosse County.

Sage Hicke faces one felony charge of manufacturing or delivering LSD. A second suspect, Thomas Dewitt, faces the same charge.

Both are accused of conspiring to deliver LSD inside the La Crosse County jail.

Hicke remains in jail, while Dewitt has posted bond. They have calendar calls set for Jan. 24.

On Dec. 15, Hicke was sentenced to a two-year prison term on charges related to the 2022 shooting death of 15-year-old Storm Vondrashek at an apartment building near Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

Hicke reached a plea agreement in that case, claiming self-defense against Vondrashek and another young man, who attack him.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
