The former chancellor of UW-La Crosse says he’s getting “wonderful” support from the community and beyond, after being fired suddenly on Wednesday by the UW Board of Regents.

Joe Gow told WIZM it’s “troubling” that he was dismissed by the regents for filming pornographic videos with his wife, without getting a chance to defend himself.

“I’m very concerned that there was no due process,” Gow said Thursday. “I was never notified of a violation of any policy, and there was no hearing where I would have an opportunity to present my side of the story.”

The regents had a special meeting, at which they fired the Gow as chancellor and put him on administrative leave, for producing pornographic videos and books, under assumed names.

You might ask ‘What was he thinking?’ by appearing in sex videos.

“This should be very troubling for anybody that cares about free speech on a university campus,” Gow said. “That we have freedom of expression and freedom of speech in the United States and that the First Amendment would protect the books and videos that we’ve made. Apparently the Regents do not agree with that.”

Gow became chancellor at UW-L in 2007. The 63-year-old recently announced he planned to retire as chancellor after the 2024 spring semester, but would continue teaching on campus.

Provost Betsy Morgan was promoted to acting chancellor. The regents meet again Friday morning to discuss hiring a new chancellor for La Crosse.

Freedom of stupidity and poor judgement: it’s widely known both have consequences.

And then Mayor Reynolds committing yet another unforced error to support a fallen fellow lib says “while the dismissal of Joe Gow as UWL chancellor is a surprise to many…”

Apparently the mayor has a pretty low opinion of his constituents that he would even wade into this matter much less make such an idiotic statement.

Freedom of expression, defending the constitution and all…hilarious. Otter had more credibility defending his Faber University Delta Tau Chi fraternity in the 1978 movie Animal House.
