Statement from La Crosse Mayor Reynolds relating to UW-L chancellor Gow’s firing
A day after the UW Board of Regents fired UW-La Crosse chancellor, Dr. Joe Gow, for essentially, discovering he’s posted porn videos with his wife online and has been affiliating with actors in the adult film industry, La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds put out a statement.
“While the dismissal of Joe Gow as the UW-La Crosse chancellor is surprising for many, any actions related to the removal should not detract from the extraordinary and ongoing accomplishments of this amazing university, and the faculty and staff, who continue to prioritize student success above all else.
“UW-La Crosse remains an elite higher education institution, ranking consistently at the highest levels for academics, value, and campus environment, among many other measures.
“UW-La Crosse is a strong and healthy institution that will continue to provide an outstanding education to students from all over the world. I have complete faith in the leadership of Interim Chancellor Betsy Morgan to help guide UW-La Crosse through this transitional period.
“I am a proud UW-L alum and will continue to loudly champion the virtues of the university and the exceptional educational opportunities that await all those who attend there. The City of La Crosse supports its UW campus and looks forward to our mutually successful future together.”
Gow spoke to WIZM on Thursday. His situation was also discussed on La Crosse Talk PM.
Statements were sought from Wisconsin state Assembly Rep. Jill Billings and state Sen. Brad Pfaff, but neither legislator returned messages.

Gow’s firing is one of the most-read stories in today’s Wall St. Journal. It was in USA Today yesterday and all the TV networks. The Mayor misses the point. No one questions the worth of UW-L. Reynolds calls the firing “surprising”. The Regents called his behavior “disgusting.” Ask the Mayor if he supports tenure and a teaching position for a “disgusting” man.

I could care less what Reynolds has to say about this issue.
What should be told is how much taxpayer money was wasted on a climate summmit held by an oil producing state that has no intention of reducing oil.
Next summit at another oil producing nation.
