“Explosion” reported in Stoddard being investigated

STODDARD, Wis. — Loud noises heard this weekend in Stoddard, described by citizens as sounding like an explosion, are being investigated by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

However, the the sheriff said in a media release there’s no evidence that any explosion took place.

Sheriff Roy Torgerson said a resident on Old River Road in Stoddard heard two noises around 7 o’clock Saturday night, but the sheriff’s department was not called until information came out on social media.

Torgerson said the Stoddard Fire Department did not get calls about the noises, and he does not believe the community is in danger.
