Neighbors of former south-side library in La Crosse to weigh ideas for building
New ideas for a former city library building will be up for discussion Monday night at a neighborhood meeting in La Crosse.
The Holy Trinity-Longfellow Neighborhood Association is hosting a 6 p.m. meeting at the Faith United Methodist Church on Redfield Street.
People living near the old South Branch library will be asked for ideas on how the building can be put to a new use.
The city has begun the process of declaring the library site as ‘surplus property,’ which could lead to the property being sold to a buyer.
The 16th Street library was shut down in November, after city officials decided to eliminate $100,000 in library funding from the annual budget, leaving just two public library buildings in La Crosse.
