Nobody hurt last week after a Viroqua-area vehicle fire.

The incident took place on Nottingham Road in the town of Jefferson, where the 911 call came in around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The news release Saturday from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office said the engine compartment was fully engulfed and spreading to the interior, when responders first arrived.

The Viroqua Fire Chief and a sheriff’s deputy used a fire extinguisher until a fire truck arrived, and then the flames were quickly extinguished.

No word on the cause of the fire. The vehicle was a total loss, according to the news release.
