La Crosse woman faces charge for allegedly possessing gun used in north-side shooting incident
A January shooting in La Crosse, that left one man with an injured leg, has led to a criminal charge against a woman who allegedly possessed the gun used in the shooting.
A cash bond of $50,000 was set on Thursday for Tessa Haller of La Crosse. The 34-year-old is charged with being a party to attempted 1st degree homicide.
Investigators said Haller’s boyfriend, Lenell Carter, was hit in the mouth during a fight at a north-side bar Jan. 14, and Carter took a gun from Haller’s purse to shoot the man who punched him.
The victim was wounded in the leg. Much of the activity related to the shooting was captured on a security video at the bar.
La Crosse County Judge Scott Horne said in court that Haller can be considered an accomplice to the shooting.
“However, she’s also alleged to be the person who was carrying the firearm,” Horne said, “and at least have had some role in pointing out the alleged victim.”
Carter has not been arrested yet. Haller is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 31.
