La Crosse man, who allegedly shot victim three times, turns himself in — bond set at $500,000
A cash bond of $500,000 was set Tuesday for a 41-year-old La Crosse man, who’s charged with attempted murder for a recent shooting.
Lenell Carter appeared in La Crosse County court for firing a gun at another man on Jan.14, outside a north La Crosse bar on George Street.
The victim was shot three times in the leg.
Carter turned himself in at the county jail Tuesday morning.
The La Crosse County District Attorney’s office requested a $1 million bond, because Carter has a history of missing court dates.
But Judge Scott Horne set bond at $500,000, and still cited Carter’s missed appearances in the past.
Carter could get up to 67 years in prison if he’s convicted of attempted murder with a dangerous weapon.
He’s scheduled to return for arraignment Wednesday.
