Hit-and-run suspect appears in Vernon County court

A Vernon County man accused of causing a hit-and-run accident in Westby this week has now appeared in court.

Mitchell McKittrick of Westby faces four criminal counts, including hit-and-run and reckless injury.

The 22-year-old McKittrick allegedly struck a woman with his UTV while she was walking along Bekkedal Avenue early on the morning of February 4th. The woman was sent to Gundersen in La Crosse for treatment.

Bond for McKittrick has been set at $10,000 cash. He is due back in Vernon County court for his next hearing on February 27th.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
