The suspect in a reckless homicide dating back to New Year’s Eve of 2021 did not show up Monday for a court hearing in La Crosse.

As a result, Judge Elliott Levine issued a $10,000 warrant for the arrest of 25-year-old Lathan Foster, who’s accused of providing fentanyl that caused a drug death in West Salem.

Foster is supposed to be tried this October in connection with the overdose death of Jeremy Pittman.

He did not appear in person or on video for his scheduled hearing. Foster also missed a hearing in a different La Crosse case two years ago, and was arrested at that time in his home state of Arkansas.

After Pittman died, police found messages to Foster on the victim’s phone, apparently attempting to buy drugs. Foster posted a cash bond months ago to get out of the county jail.
