Verdicts should come before election day

In this country, everyone has the right to a speedy trial. But not everyone wants a speedy trial. With just months remaining before the presidential election, Donald Trump is hoping his legal woes can be put off until after November. As the wheels of justice turn ever-so-slowly, Trump continues to file appeal after appeal in the handful of legal cases he is facing. The former President is facing charges in Washington over his attempts to steal the 2020 election. He is also facing charges in Florida over his handling of confidential documents. He faces charges in Georgia for allegedly scheming to subvert the state’s 2020 election. Trump is also facing charges in New York where he is accused of converting campaign funds to hush money given to porn star Stormy Daniels. Each trial has been met by delay after delay and no firm dates are yet set for any of those four legal proceedings. It is quite possible that none of the trials will happen before voters head to the polls. We understand each step in the legal process takes time, and that judges are not bound by an election calendar. But it seems voters should have the right to know whether a candidate for the nation’s highest office is a felon, guilty of even one of the 91 counts against him, before they cast their ballots.

You are showing your true colors and beliefs. It’s too bad you cannot see what has transpired so far and continues to get more and more ridiculous as time goes on.

Let’s be fair and non-partial in our editorializing as the WIZM Program Director and NEWS Director when publicly reporting to our La Crosse community here.

The charges levied against former President Trump are some bolstered up fabricated charges that you and I would not face if we went to get a 2nd mortgage on our home. We would want the valuation as high as we could to allow the renovations to be made. As far as Mar-a-Lago being valued at 18 million that is very under valued. The lenders even verified the the property value but the former president is being charge….what?

This is very much like the Charlottesville speech the main stream media “clipped”, or the Adam Schiff Russia collusion that comes out false but we heard nonsense for years from my Democratic congress. https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/15/politics/john-durham-report-fbi-trump-released/index.html

The quid quo pro impeachment is outlandish if you read the transcript.

The getting to the classified documents, it is outrageous that our President Biden goes on national t.v. and stated his documents are locked or able to be locked and they show a photo of the boxes in his home and garage. Then to further this he provided classified information that he knowingly took from a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility ) as a senator…..he knowingly took them.

Please come back to your logical and open minded reports and make us proud of you as our hometown community Program and News Director.

Pure idiocy. A defendant has a right to a speedy trial and not be held indefinitely in jail (see Jan 6 defendants for obvious violations). A speedy trial is not a benefit of the government; it is a right of the defendant.

It is not the court’s responsibility to put on a show for the public. Moreover, the more time that passes allows the public to sort out all the media generated pollution and understand the truth. Had Congress been wise enough to follow that course Trump would never have been convicted in either of the impeachments now known to have been based on purely partisan politics ex facts.
