Bluffview Park could be next sledding site in La Crosse

There hasn’t been much sledding in La Crosse this winter, due to a shortage of snow, but the city’s park department is making plans for future snowy seasons.

At its February meeting on Thursday night, the La Crosse Park Board will look at a plan for a “little free sled library” to be located at Bluffview Park.

Similar to “little library” boxes, where people can exchange books, a sled library is a place where you can borrow a sled or leave sleds for other folks to use.

Lueth and Forest Hills parks in La Crosse have already started sled exchanges.

Outdoor Recreation Alliance (ORA) Trails group hopes to put a sled collection at Bluffview Park in time for next winter.

The sleds would be put in place after the first substantial snowfall in La Crosse — no earlier than December.

They would be returned to storage by the second week of March.

ORA would collect donated sleds to start off the collection at Bluffview.
