A 72-year-old woman from La Crosse is being charged with possessing meth, after being stopped for driving erratically on French Island.

The woman was pulled over early Thursday and an officer found that La Crosse County had issued a warrant for her arrest.

She was taken to jail on suspicion of driving on a suspended license.

When she was searched, a jailer found a small bag hidden in her clothes. A drug test confirmed that the bag contained meth.

She said the bag belonged to a previous passenger in her car. She faces three-and-a-half years in prison if she’s convicted of drug possession, and her driving privileges could be suspended.

Her next court hearing on the meth charge is on Feb. 26.
