Interim chancellor Morgan among three finalists for full-time post at UWL
The search for a new chancellor at UW-La Crosse has been narrowed down to three finalists. Interim chancellor Betsy Morgan is a candidate for the full-time position, along with provosts from Indiana State University and a state college in New Hampshire.
The post of chancellor opened up when the Board of Regents fired Joe Gow in December, after learning that Gow had appeared in homemade pornographic videos.
A committee of the regents has been screening candidates for chancellor. All three of the finalists will be on campus next week, and will speak at early afternoon forums Monday through Wednesday at the Cleary Alumni Center. James Beeby, the provost of Keene State College in New Hampshire, will visit UWL on Monday. He’ll be followed on Tuesday by Christopher Olsen, who is provost at Indiana State. Morgan will speak on Wednesday. The review committee could make a hiring decision by Easter.
The regents are reviewing the tenure of Gow, who had planned to step down as chancellor this spring and return to teaching until he was fired from the chancellor post. Gow had planned to teach communication, but that now hinges on the results of the tenure review.
