Body of Trempealeau man found in La Crosse marsh, nearly three months after he was seen last

A 31-year-old man has been found dead near Myrick Park, three months after he was last seen in La Crosse.

According to city police, Octavio Morales of Trempealeau had not been seen since just before Christmas. Morales was last sighted near St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral downtown on December 22nd.

On March 1st, his body was discovered in the marsh area, and there was no indication of foul play. Several agencies, including UWL police and the Wisconsin DNR, assisted in the search for Morales. Police continue to investigate what happened to Morales.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
