Will we hear much about issues from Biden and Trump in presidential rematch? Joe Heim hopes so

Now that Nikki Haley has left the presidential race, the campaign is already down to one candidate in each party. The same candidates we had four years ago, Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

La Crosse political scientist Joe Heim hopes that the remaining eight months until the main election will be used to discuss important issues.

“I’d like to think that they’d be talking about immigration, about being fit for president, crime, economy, things of that sort, we have two wars going on out there, abortion issues, ” Heim tells WIZM’s La Crosse Talk.

Heim says he’s seen polls, suggesting that two-thirds of the people surveyed don’t think either Trump or Biden should be running again this fall.

“Basically, both of them are unpopular,” he says. “About two-thirds basically don’t think either one of them should run, and yet they swept through Super Tuesday.”

The last time the same two men faced each other for U.S. president two elections in a row was in the 1950’s, Dwight Eisenhower versus Adlai Stevenson. Eisenhower won both races. Minnesota was one of the states voting on Super Tuesday. The Wisconsin primary is April 2nd.

Will we hear about the issues? Or will it be “Russia, Russia, Russia” and “Extremist MAGA Republicans”. It would seem that is largely up to the media. The MSM has proven itself not up to the task.

The only thing certain is that the mainstream media will keep protecting Biden.
I would not vote for Trump if he was running for dogcatcher.
Biden has been a disaster both in foreign and domestic policy. The press has never really reported on the debacle of the withdrawal of Afghanistan . We know Hunter was selling the Biden brand and here again the press is silent. You really do not want to take me on since I can easily skewer both and anyone who thinks either should be President. Biden will win because one issue is abortion. Sad that anyone wins an election because they favor abortion up to and including labor.

Nick, your cynicism is merited, but unproductive. You had better pick a side because the moorings of society are systematically being dismantled at an accelerating rate.

Yes, the Karen’s worship their abortions. I watched in horror as France passed a constitutional amendment protecting baby killing and the swarms of young, white Karens squealed with delight; simply demonic what is happening to the West.

State of the Union (so-called) was tonight. It was a partisan and divisive screed delivered by an angry, cynical, yelling old man. I think Prof Heim has his answer.
